VeraTech for Health is a spin-off company that emerged in 2010 from the Biomedical Informatics (IBIME) group at Valencia Polytechnic University (UPV). VeraTech for Health core group and staff is composed of health informatics professionals some of them with more than 20 year experience in medical informatics field. In particular, several of its founders and current members are recognized international experts in the health information semantic interoperability field, biomedical repositories data quality assessment, and decision support systems.

VeraTech mission is to improve healthcare by providing support, tooling, training, and new developments in the areas of semantic interoperability, health data quality, and clinical decision support.

The European Health Data & Evidence Network has received funding from the Innovative Medicines Initiative 2 Joint Undertaking (JU) under grant agreement No 806968. The JU receives support from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and EFPIA.

Arturo Romero Gutierrez

Chief Executive Officer

Doctor in Medicine and Surgery from the Complutense University of Madrid and MIR Specialist in General Surgery and Diploma in Hospital Management. He has held the positions of: Coordinator of the Admission and Clinical Documentation Service and Clinical Director of Information Systems at the Toledo Hospital Complex. He has published more than twenty articles in Spanish and foreign journals and is the co-author of books on health information systems and clinical management. As a teacher, he has participated in numerous programs and has developed research and development work on Coding and Clinical Terminology, as well as on the design, implementation and deployment of Electronic Health Record systems, among many others. He has worked in the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, in the Area of ​​Clinical Information Systems, as Director of the HCDSNS Project. He participates in the executive committee of the eHGI (Initiative for the Governance of Electronic Health) and represents Spain in the General Assembly of the IHTSDO (International Organization for the Development of Standards in Health Terminologies).

Maryna Danylyuk

Director of Business Development

International Economy and Integration PhD student by the Universidad de Valencia and Master in Economic Globalization: International Trade Management by the Universidad de Valencia in 2013. She specializes in the field of Health Economics and Socio-economic Development. Currently she is the Chief Executive Officer and Marketing and Sales Officer at VeraTech for Health

Cristina Farinós

Human Resources Manager and Administrative Management

Master in Human Resources Management by IMF-CEU San Pablo and PgD in Management and Promotion of Local Development by the University of Valencia. She has more than 12 years of experience, initially in the Public Administration expanding knowledge in local development and the business network, and subsequently in technology-based companies, where she focuses on the Human Resources field while collaborating in the planning and management of projects.

David Moner

Chief Technical Officer, Consultant on Semantic Interoperability

Computer engineer and founding partner of VeraTech for Health. Expert in integration, standardization and semantic interoperability of health information systems and the electronic health record. He is member of the Spanish Normalization Organization (AENOR) and Certified Specialist in HL7 CDA, HL7 v2.6.

José Alberto Maldonado Segura

Chief Research Officer, Consultant on Semantic Interoperability

Ph. D. by the Universitat Politècnica de València in 2005. Specialist in the modeling, integration and standardization of information (bio) medical. He has more than 15 years of experience in medical informatics research, is co-author of more than 70 international publications and has directed more than 10 R + D + i projects. He has collaborated with international standardization organizations of electronic medical records such as the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) or Snomed. He is a certified specialist in HL7 V3 RIM and HL7 CDA and Snomed (Implementation Course).

Diego Boscá Tomás

Senior Technologist and Consultant on Quality of Health Data

Computer engineer and founding partner of VeraTech for Health. Ph. D. in Computer Science by The Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). He has more than 30 published papers on his areas of expertise which are the analysis, design, implementation and deployment of semantically interoperable health information systems using international standards and standards of electronic health records such as openEHR, ISO 13606, HL7 CDA and HL7 FHIR and of medical terminology such as SNOMED. He is part of the openEHR Specifications Editorial Committee (SEC)

Santiago Salas

Senior Technologist and Consultant on Health Information Management

Technical Engineer in Computer Science by The Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and Master in Software Engineering, Formal Methods and Information Systems. He is expert in multiple technologies including Java, XML, XSLT, web services, HTML and relational databases. He has certificates in ITIL Expert for services delivery under IT

Vicente Giménez

Terminology expert technologist

Graduate in Computer Science & Engineering and Master’s Degree in Mathematical Research from Universitat Politècnica de València. His area of expertise includes documentation and clinical terminology. He is member of the SNOMED CT Languages Project Group and collaborator teacher in the Degree in Computer Science & Engineering at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and in the Master in Medical Documentation at Universitat de València.

Montserrat Robles Viejo

Scientific Advisor on Medical Informatics, Founding partner

Graduate and Ph. D. in Physical Sciences. Professor in the degrees of Computer Engineering and Biomedical Engineering at The Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) (1982-2017). Her areas of investigation include Normalization and Semantic Interoperability of the Electronic Health Record,  Mining and Biomedical Data Quality and Medical Image Processing. She created and directed (1999-2017) The Biomedical Informatics group (IBIME). She has been the Director of University Institute of Research in Information Technology and Communications (ITACA) of UPV (2012-2016). She has been researcher in more than 100 national and international research projects, she has directed 11 PhD thesis he is co-author of 103+219 articles and contributions in congresses on biomedical informatics, she also has 14 software logs.

Miguel Esparza

Manager at the Institute of Automation and Control (ai2) of the UPV, Founding partner

Computer engineer by The Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) in 2004. His career has focused on managing research projects. From The Biomedical Informatics group (IBIME) and TICs against Climate Change (ICTvsCC) of ITACA Insitute, and currently from the Institute ai2 of the UPV, he has been in charge of the management of more than 30 national projects, 6 European projects, multiple agreements, software logs, patents and research contracts. Besides being a founding partner of VeraTech he was also the manager of the company during the years 2015-2017.

Salvador Tortajada Velert

Engineer at Institute of Corpuscular Physics, Founding partner

Computer Engineer since 2004 specializing in Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence and PH. D. in Applied Physics in 2012. He is also PgD in Operational Research and Systems since 2007. He is currently working in the Department of Nuclear and Particle Physics applied to medicine at the Institute of Corpuscular Physics, with a fundamentally innovative objective applying artificial vision techniques to particle detectors. His career has been focused on the application of artificial intelligence, the pattern recognition, data analysis, eHealth and expert systems and decision support systems for biomedical problems. He has more than 20 contributions in international books and journals about Medical Informatics and ICT applied to health and wellbeing.  Furthermore, he is co-author of several software applications registered by the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). He has developed his career in the Biomedical Data Science Lab Group of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, in the spin-off company VeraTech for Health, of which he is founding partner, and as researcher and developer at the Health Research Institute La Fe and the La Fe University and Polytechnic Hospital of Valencia.

Elies Fuster i Garcia

Researcher at UPV, Founding partner

Ph. D. in Applied Physics by the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 2012. His doctorate is related to biomedical signal analysis  in classification problems. His work is focused on the development of algorithm for automatic analysis of biomedical signals and pattern recognition. He has been part of 12 research projects in the field of biomedicine, including 3 European projects. He also has 12 publications in high impact journals of this field.
